Bush League Backcountry Fly-In Series 47

Fall is beginning to settle in, and that means it’s a great time to explore more of Idaho! Fly-in #47 finds us parked at S68… Orofino Muni with a little assignment to complete from our friends at Idaho Aviation Outfitters. Let’s go!

Bush League Basics:

Everyone is welcomed! Whether you’re an expert or beginner with flight simulators, radio communications, or navigation, etc., you’re invited! We’re a friendly bunch and enjoy learning from each other.

The best aircraft for these events are those that can handle smaller airstrips and high elevations. You will need the ability to set it down nice and slow, but also the muscle to climb up and out.

We encourage you to join the VATSIM network and use the CTAF frequency of 122.8 to announce positions. We will be departing from a non-controlled field to get things started, so be sure to announce your intentions as you enter and depart traffic patterns around the fields. We’ll also use the DownwindSim Discord voice channel during the flight for non-ATC related chit-chat.

As always, the main goal of these flights is to have fun, practice good airmanship, and “what would I do in this situation” scenarios.

Flight Information: The event takes place on Tuesday, September 5th. We will gather at Orofino Muni (S68) for a short flight briefing at 8:00pm EST  (technically 0000z on 6th) with departures shortly after. Here’s the flight plan:

As you can see from above, set your weather to 4000 overcast. Forecasts show the cloud deck lifting after a while. Consult Uncle Mevlin’s Map for BL #47 to plan your navigation. Once you make it to Cayuse Creek, be sure to check in with the locals for an update.

If you’re using MSFS, here’s what you’d see at Cayuse Creek… and if you tuned in you’d hear this.
