FLIGHT INFORMATION:
Pilots should plan to spawn at MT86 Bar E. There is plenty of room, but only three starting spots. Please find a spot on the grass to park after you’ve loaded into the airport. The flight briefing starts at 3:00pm EDT (1900z). As always, a STOL capable aircraft is recommended for the high altitude, turf airstrips you will encounter. The approximate distance is 185 miles and should take about 3 hours to complete.
Pilots will fly a loop from Bar E to each field, in either a clockwise or counter clockwise direction, returning to Bar E when finished. All the airfields except one are listed on Great Falls VFR Sectional. The unmarked airfield, MT69 Keiley Ranch, is located 5 miles East of Nevada Lake, which is approximately half way between 3MT9 Willow and MT86 Bar E.
Please file a VFR flight plan. Flight following is not needed. The main goal of these flights is to have fun and explore the backcountry. Feel free to configure weather and time of day as you see fit to allow this to happen.
We will use 122.80 as the event CTAF. DownwindSim’s discord’s voice channel is available during the flight for non-ATC related conversations. Keep in mind, several pilots will be streaming, so keep all comms appropriate and professional.
SCENERY INSTALL:
The Bush League Backcountry Fly-in would like to recognize and thank our special guest scenery developers DownwindSim, LPNils, Wookie, StevePHL, and MelvinLeroy. Please promote and support their flight sim endeavors.
All necessary files are found in this Google Folder.
~ Extract the scenery folders to your X-Plane 11 > Custom Scenery
~ Copy the airports.osm.bz2 files in the matching Ortho4XP > OSM_data folders (overwrite the existing file)
~ The airports are optimized to work with Orthotiles +46-113, +47-113, +46-114, +47-114.
SCENERY GIVEAWAY RULES:
A special thanks to VerticalSim studios for sponsoring this month’s event. Stop by his website and show him how much we appreciate his generosity.
1. All pilots who start the event at MT86 Bar E will be entered into a drawing for their choice of any airport from VerticalSim Studios. DownwindSim and MelvinLeroy will be collecting the names of all pilots we see participating in the event.
2. No new entries will be added after 3:30pm EDT (1930z).
3. After MelvinLeroy returns to MT86 Bar E, he will use a random number generator to determine the winner on his stream. The drawing will take place no later than 6:00pm EDT.
4. You do not need to be present to win, but if Melvin does not know how to contact you, he will draw a different winner. The best way to connect with him is via Discord (https://discord.gg/GFrwpK5) or through email brantnyberg@gmail.com.
5. Winners will share their information with Melvin, who will coordinate the scenery download with VerticalSim Studios.
I am having trouble with this instruction ~ Copy the airports.osm.bz2 files in the matching Ortho4XP > OSM_data folders (overwrite the existing file)
I don’t have a matching Ortho4XP folder in this Bush league potluck file. I downloaded the required file from Google Drive and it didn’t include said file.
Thanks
Alan, ask over in my Discord channel, we’ll get you going in the right direction!
